1. Clean and Prime for a Better Finish
Cleaning surfaces and using a primer coat can make your paint stick better. This helps your paint look smooth and nice. It takes a bit more time, but it’s worth it!
2. Use Sugar Soap to Clean
Sugar soap is a great cleaner for carpets, tiles, baths, toilets, and your painting surfaces. Use it to clean before you start priming or painting.
3. Paint According to Your Handedness
If you are right-handed, paint from right to left. If you are left-handed, paint from left to right. This way, you will not accidentally touch the wall with your free hand.
4. Get Rid of Paint Smells
Keep the windows open for good ventilation. You can also put small dishes of vanilla essence in the corners of the room to help remove the paint smell.
5. Sand and Stain Wood Correctly
If you are working on pine or wood with grain, use 120-grit sandpaper and sand from top to bottom. If you don’t like the colour of pine, stain it with dark teak methylated spirits-based stain before using a white glaze.
